Fun run for Vision Aid Overseas
A pre-reg optician in Inverness recently completed the River Ness 10k, raising £200 for Vision Aid Overseas (VAO).
Ellen Torrance from Specsavers Inverness crossed the finish line after just 68 minutes on Sunday 24 September, and all for a fantastic cause.
Ellen said: ‘It was a great route on the day along the banks of Loch Ness and I’m delighted to have completed the run in such a good time. Thank you to everyone for their generous donations, I’m delighted with my final total.’
Andrew Carr, store director at Specsavers Inverness, said: ‘Vision Aid Overseas is a cause we are always keen to support at Specsavers and we regularly collect old and unwanted frames to be recycled in aid of the charity.
‘Congratulations to Ellen for completing the 10k and for fundraising for such a great cause.’
Vision Aid Overseas provides eyecare and glasses for people in developing countries, who otherwise would not have access to optical care. The charity raises money by collecting old glasses for recycling.
