On the hunt for warm socks this Christmas
Specsavers Hove are asking customers to donate a warm pair of new socks to a good cause this Christmas – or make a donation – for the chance to win a great prize.
Winning this Christmas
The store, in George Street, is running a Christmas raffle where customers can either swap a new pair of socks or donate £1 for a strip of five raffle tickets.
The first prize winner will get a voucher for £50 off their next pair of glasses. Second prize will be a bottle of prosecco, and third prize will be a box of chocolates.
Helping homeless people
The store is collecting socks for local Hove-based homeless charity Off The Fence, who run a campaign called Project Antifreeze. Any cash donations will be used to buy more socks.
Outreach teams from Off The Fence spend their evenings on the streets of Brighton and Hove helping to meet the basic needs of people who are sleeping rough. They also run a drop in centre four days a week.
The Hove store will be collecting socks – and donations – between Monday 4 December and Sunday 17 December, so why not pop in a pair today for your chance to win a prize.
Socks should be new, and ideally warm. The charity needs socks for men and women.
A word from the store director
Charles Forshaw, store director in Hove, said: ‘Many of us take having a warm pair of socks for granted. For many local homeless people, however, what to us might seem like a normal necessity is far from that.
‘Giving a pair of warm socks does not cost much at all, but can make a massive difference. That is why campaigns like Project Antifreeze are so important, and why we are so proud to be supporting it this year.
‘We would urge any of our customers, and all other local people, to drop a pair of warm socks into our George Street store – or make a donation so we can buy some socks – so that we can make sure they reach the people who need them most in time for Christmas.’
