Meet Clare Woodland
Dispensing Assistant Clare Woodland has recently qualified as a CERT 4 registered optician in the Specsavers High Wycombe team. Read on to find out more about Clare and the store.
What does your job involve?
'Mainly dispensing and solving any customer concerns they have with their specs or frames.'
Can you tell us a bit more about your CERT 4 qualification?
'As I became a full time member of the team, I wanted to learn more and gain further qualifications within the store. Completing the CERT 4 course seemed like a natural progression for me. I’ll be starting my dispensing optician qualification in the new year which I’m really excited, and nervous, about.'
Were you born in High Wycombe?
'Yes, born and raised! My Dad was also born in the town.'
How did you come to get the job at the Specsavers store?
'I’d been out of work for a while as I’d been raising my daughter and Specsavers offered me suitable hours when I was ready to get back into work.'
Have you always worked in eye care?
'I originally trained as a hairdresser and moved to this as the hours were great for me while my daughter was still young.'
How long have you worked at the High Wycombe store?
'Six and a half years. The time has flown by.'
What do you enjoy most about your job?
'Meeting different people every day and helping them to choose the right frames for them. It’s amazing that we meet different kinds of people and hear about their stories.'
Have you organised any training courses?
'I completed the dementia training and found it really interesting. It made me think about how much it affects sufferers’ lives and now I can help if they come into store.'
Do you have any hobbies outside of work?
'My husband, Aaron, and I have two dogs so they keep us busy with all the walking they need. Aside from that, I love spending time with friends, especially now the weather is warmer and we can bring the barbeque out.'
