A Norwich woman has just been chosen as a regional finalist in Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2018.
And Hannah Cunningham, who is 35 and has lived in Norwich all her life, could not wait to pop down to Specsavers in White Lion Street to collect her prize of champagne and a certificate and choose some new glasses thanks to a £125 voucher.
Treated like a celebrity
Hannah had a great morning being treated like a celebrity by the team in store – with the obligatory paparazzi photographer on standby of course.
If Hannah goes on to win the competition, she could win £10,000 – after mingling with the stars at a celebrity-packed awards ceremony in London this October.
Delighted to be chosen
Hannah said: ‘I never usually enter competitions because I never win them. When I got the call to say I was a regional finalist I was shocked as so many people had entered, but I am delighted to have been chosen.
‘I have worn glasses since I was about 13. At that time they were functional rather than fashionable. Now I have numerous pairs of glasses for every occasion – probably as many as I have pairs of shoes, which shows how much things have changed.’
A word from the store director
Ian Sinha, director at the two Specsavers stores in Norwich, said: ‘We were delighted to see Hannah in store, and hope she enjoys her new glasses.
‘It is great to have a regional finalist in Norwich for the second year in a row. This proves that we are a town of extremely stylish spectacle wearers. We would all like to wish Hannah every success with the rest of the competition.’
