Hamilton raises funds for Ups and Downs
Big-hearted staff at an opticians in Hamilton have raised hundreds of pounds for a local theatre group this year.
The team at Specsavers in Hamilton has donated more than £800 to Ups and Downs – a drama group for children and adults with Down’s Syndrome – since the start of 2016.
The money will be used to provide members of the group with even more opportunities to take to the stage and perform at venues across Lanarkshire and beyond.
Members of the group recently popped into the store in Quarry Street to say thank you for the donation. Store director Emma Foster said: ‘Ups and Downs is a fantastic organisation and everyone involved is an inspiration.
Adults and young people get the chance to take part in so many activities and performances throughout the year and it’s great to see how much enjoyment they get from being part of the group.
It’s been a privilege to fundraise for members of the group this year and we’re very proud to have raised so much money.’
Ups and Downs president Angela Jack says: ‘We would like to thank Specsavers in Hamilton for fundraising for Ups and Downs this year. It’s fantastic to have the support of the store.
We are completely thrilled with the amount received – it will make a real difference to the lives of young people in Hamilton.’
