Members of staff from Specsavers in Halesowen took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Saturday 30 September, and raised £150 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Local businesses working together
The store teamed up with local businesses who donated several prizes for the charity tombola with Chloe Hudson winning the top prize of a pair of Osiris sunspecs worth £125.
Other prizes included free lens treatments, chocolates donated by Thornton’s and free drinks donated by the local coffee shop; Coffee Worx.
Raising money to fight against cancer
Store director Shahid Parvez said: ‘We were delighted to take part in this year’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning – it was a fantastic day and we all had lots of fun. Many of the staff are keen bakers too, so the bake sale prompted a touch of healthy rivalry in the team.
‘We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined in and helped us raise funds for Macmillan’s continued fight against cancer. A special thanks to those who donated prizes, bought baked goods and took part in the charity tombola.’
Last year people across the UK raised almost £30 million for Macmillan in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. It is Macmillan’s aim to support those affected by cancer and ensure nobody faces it alone.
