Specsavers in Guildford was delighted to ensure kids were visible and adults' ears were protected at this year's Guildford Lions Firework Fiesta that took place on Saturday 4th November at Stoke Park.
Free high viz jackets for children
The store provided the free jackets at the torch collection points on the High Street. Andrew Lewis, store director, has always championed children’s safety and visibility on local roads, and to date, has supplied hundreds of fluorescent vests to the community.
Andrew said: 'This year, we decided to make our jackets available to the spectators of the firework display. Being a dad myself, the crowds coupled with darkness can make you a touch anxious when out with little ones.
'Having them highly visible was a small comfort for many and they went down a storm with locals. We hope parents will find their new jackets have some longevity with their children too. They are great when out on bike rides, on the school run or when out and about on our pavements in the winter months.'
Keeping ears safe too
In addition to keep kids visible, the new audiology director at the store provided free ear plugs. Rachael said: 'Bonfire night is a great event for everyone to enjoy but we are mindful that fireworks can be very loud and can cause damage with prolonged exposure. Our free donation of ear plugs for adults helped them protect their ears during the spectacular firework display.'
