This National Apprenticeship Week, Specsavers Greenford are celebrating the journey that one of their apprentices has taken.
And it is a journey that has taken Rome Malik-Cameron all the way from the Broadway store to New Zealand.
Developing with Specsavers
After joining the team as an apprentice, Rome studied hard to qualify as an optical assistant with Specsavers.
That gave him the boost he needed to start a new life on the other side of the world.
One of a kind
Jessica Bownes, store manager in Greenford, said: ‘Rome – like the city – really is one of a kind, and is incredibly motivated to develop his career. While we were sad to lose him, it was really bittersweet as he is growing within the wider Specsavers family.
‘We are really proud of what he has achieved so far in what we are sure will be a great career, and are just happy to have been part of his journey to a glittering new future. His story just goes to show how far an apprenticeship – and a dream – can take you.’
