Staff at the Forfar opticians are taking part in ‘Running Down Dementia’, an Alzheimer’s Research UK fundraising drive, which will see them collectively cover 1,407km.

John O’Groats to Lands’ End

The team at Specsavers will run, walk, swim and cycle the equivalent of John O’Groats to Lands’ End. A map in the Castle Street store is tracking the team’s progress and charting their journey with almost 900km covered and around £300 raised for the charity to-date.

Getting close to the finishing line

Blair Michie, store director at Specsavers in Forfar said: ‘Our staff have been working hard to cover this huge distance and are raring to cross the finish line.

‘We have a sponsor sheet for anyone who would like to support us as well as a donation tin. We would love to raise £500 for the charity and will be over the moon if we manage to beat our goal.

‘Raising awareness of dementia has been a huge focus for us this year with our staff recently completing Dementia Friends and Stepping Inside Dementia training.’
