Exeter mum has specs appeal
Magda Leach from Exeter has moved one step closer to a £10,000 cash prize in Specsavers’ annual Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition.
The 49-year-old, who has two daughters aged 14 and 19, has been wearing glasses for 15 years. She first needed specs for reading but now wears varifocals for driving and reading.
‘This is the best thing to have happened to me all year, I have never won anything before and I really do love wearing my glasses,’ she said. ‘I believe that to feel beautiful and good about yourself you need to feel comfortable, and my glasses make me feel great.
Wishing for a family sunshine break!
When asked what she would spend the prize money on, Magda said: ‘My eldest daughter is a model so I was delighted when I heard I had been selected. Maybe I’ll follow in her footsteps. If I am lucky enough to win the grand prize, I’ll be booking a holiday with my daughters straight away.’
Magda has qualified as a South West regional finalist in the 45-59 age category and was presented with a certificate, bottle of champagne and £150 eyewear voucher at the Specsavers store in Exeter.
Exeter store director, Emma Denham, said: ‘I’m delighted that Magda has qualified. She looks amazing in her glasses and is such a bubbly character. She used to live in Brazil and her lust for life really shines through in her smile. We wish her the best of luck and hope to welcome her back as the overall winner.’
