Youngsters at Cambusnethan Primary now have high visibility vests, thanks to Specsavers Wishaw

A Wishaw opticians is helping youngsters stay safer when out and about on darker afternoons and evenings by donating high visibility vests to local school pupils.

Pupils from Cambusnethan Primary School received vests from Specsavers on Main Street.

Store manager Laura Baird and optical assistant Margaret Paterson visited the school to give the vests to the youngsters.

During their visit they spoke to the pupils about the importance of being visible to drivers as well as having regular eye health checks.

The vests are designed to increase the safety of local children when they’re out and about by making it easier for motorists to spot them.

Hazardous time of year

Specsavers Wishaw store director Erin Riddell explained, ‘At this time of year, it can be very difficult for motorists to see pedestrians, and dusk is a particularly hazardous time as many youngsters may be walking home from school.

‘Helping to increase the safety of local children is so important and we’re pleased that we have been able to donate the vests to help them stay safe.’
