Red Nose Day supporters in Derby got involved with an in-store extravaganza at Specsavers in the Intu Centre including a host of activities.

Giant waving specs

In honour of the charity day, the store installed a giant pair of the waving Red Nose Day comedy specs over the logo above the shop doors.

Customers were invited to purchase their own specs for just £2 and pose for a social media ‘mexical wave’, with all money raised from sales of the specs donated to Comic Relief.

When entering the store, visitors were greeted with a Red Nose Day table, groaning with delicious home-baked cakes which could be enjoyed in return for a 50p donation or with every purchase of the Red Nose Day specs.

Decorate your own red nose

As the team ran children's clinics throughout the day, there were also activities to entertain younger visitors, including a "Decorate your own red nose" craft activity.

Uan Gohil, store director at Specsavers in Derby, said: ‘The day was fantastic and we raised a grand total of £74.40 for Comic Relief! The giant Red Nose Day specs were a huge draw for passers-by who came in to see what all the fuss was about.

'The whole team made a great effort to pull off a really enjoyable day that was made better by the generosity of the community to this amazing cause.'
