Dementia Friends in Brighton

The team at Brighton wants to remind customers of their ‘Dementia Friendly’ status.

On-hand to help those living with dementia

Going about normal life and living with dementia presents its challenges. Specsavers in Brighton understands this, which is why they have ‘Dementia Friends’ in the store to assist customers, and relatives of customers, who live with dementia each day.

What is a Dementia Friend?

A Dementia Friend is evident from their badge on their Specsavers uniform. It signifies that they have conducted a stage one awareness lesson online, and a stage two ‘Information Session’ to further enhance their understanding of dementia. This is delivered by a volunteer Dementia Friends Champion and its aim is to ensure employees have a deeper understanding and empathy of dementia.

Why Brighton supports this great cause

Store director Andrew Wallbank says: ‘Being more aware of dementia is an incredibly positive step we can take for our team and better equip colleagues to address the individual needs of our customers.’
