All optometrists at Specsavers in Daventry are successfully accredited to offer Minor Eye Conditions Services (MECS) and can offer Glaucoma testing in store.

Store directors, Amit Naik, Satvinder Soomal and Daljit Purewal, are accredited under the Wales Optometry Postgraduate Education Centre (WOPEC) for MECS and glaucoma.

Working hard

Daljit commented: ‘We’ve been working hard to achieve this standard, and the whole team have been involved with the process. The three of us have thoroughly enjoyed working towards this accreditation.’

WOPEC is the first Postgraduate Education Centre for Optometry in the World, dedicated to excellence in eye care education through quality and independence.

Milestone achievements

The milestones have been reached through staff members passing the WOPEC Level 2 MECS and Glaucoma certification. Level 2 accreditation is an attendance-based Objective Structured Clinical Examination with five stations.

Daljit added: ‘Training and development is incredibly important to us here in Daventry and we remain committed so that we can deliver an exceptional service to our customers.’
