Specsavers Crossgates has pledged its support to disability charity Scope, after running a 10k fundraising race and holding an in-store cake stall and lucky dip.

£561.19 raised

Colleagues, Jenny Linsey and Catriona Norman from Specsavers in Crossgates Shopping Centre took part in the Jane Tomlinson’s Run for All 10k in Leeds on 9 July, raising a total of £561.19 for Scope, which aims to make the UK a place where disabled people have the same opportunities as everyone else.

The store also recently held a 70’s themed fundraising day with staff in fancy dress hosting a cake stall and lucky dip.

Close to our hearts

Speaking about the donation, Bhrat Phakey, store director at Specsavers in Crossgates, said: ‘We go a long way here at the store to raise as much money as possible for worthy causes. Scope is a charity very close to the hearts of our team as one of our optical assistants, Catriona Norman’s brother is disabled.

‘We’d like to thank our loyal customers and both Jenny and Catriona for getting behind our charitable efforts and showing their support to the charities we fundraise for. We hope the money raised through our in-store activity goes a long way to supporting Scope in the future.’
