The Colchester store dazzled the town with a magical Halloween makeover this half term, as staff transformed into witches and wizards and provided local residents with a host of treats.

Annual tradition

The store’s annual Halloween kids’ days landed on Tuesday and Thursday this week, with both days dedicated to children’s clinics in store.

Youngsters were greeted with all-day movie marathons, as well as spooky decorations and the results of the staff carving competition.

Store director Nick Hagan said: ‘It’s always great to see families in store and encouraging sight tests to ensure good vision from a young age.

'This is an annual tradition that both staff and passers-by love to take part in and hopefully we can continue to educate about the importance of eye health through fun activities like these.'

Free school screeners

To support National Children’s Eye Health Week, Specsavers Colchester is also offering SchoolScreener EZ software free of charge. The software is unique in being suitable for use with children as they progress through school up to age 18, and includes a colour vision test.

SchoolScreener EZ, created by Thomson Screening, has been designed to be operated by teachers or classroom assistants and has 45 different language options. Schools can register to receive their free kit at screeningforschools.co.uk
