Clapham gets Dementia Friendly
Following on from this month’s Dementia Awareness Week, the team at Specsavers in Clapham Junction are continuing to cater for the needs of customers suffering from the condition.
Staff at the store are training up to become Dementia Friends, an initiative run by the Alzheimer’s Society. The course involves a number of video and practical exercises designed to provide a greater understanding of dementia and its effect on people.
Those with dementia commonly experience problems with their sight and visual perception, causing them to misinterpret the world around them.
A total of 17 staff members at Specsavers Clapham Junction have already completed the training. They have now been issued with Dementia Friend badges to enable customers to easily identify them in store.
