A charity walk on Sunday 14 May helped to raise £700 for Vision Aid Overseas (VAO).

18 walkers

Members of the teams from Specsavers in the town centre and in Sainsbury’s on the Gallagher Retail Park set off on a nine-mile charity walk in fancy dress. The group of 18 walkers started from Specsavers on the High Street and finished on the High Street in Tewkesbury.

‘Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves even though we’re all a little bit sore and some of us have blisters,’ said store director Melanie Brackstone.

‘We had a couple of pit stops en route including the Cheltenham West Community Fire and Rescue Station on Tewkesbury Road and the Gloucester Old Spot pub for very welcome refreshments!

Fancy Dress

‘There was lots of effort put in with the fancy dress costumes too with characters including Where’s Wally and Bill and Ben Flower Pot Men.

'We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has sponsored us so far but there’s still time if you’d like to make a donation to help us get to £1,000.’

You can still sponsor the team by visiting their Just Giving fundraising page or by popping in to either store.
