As part of Hearing Dogs Week (25 September to 1 October), Specsavers in Cheltenham held a Paws for Coffee event in store, raising more than £100 for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Staff cooked up a storm, making dog-themed cakes and other sweet treats which customers were able to sample in return for donations. Hot drinks were also available as no piece of cake is complete without a cuppa!

Team effort

‘The whole team really got stuck in and made a huge amount of effort to ensure the day was a success,’ said PR co-ordinator, Emily Ashman.

‘Thanks to our generous customers, we raised enough money to sponsor a Hearing Dogs puppy. Once fully trained, these dogs can have an immeasurable impact on the life of someone suffering from hearing loss so we’re thrilled to have been able to help.’

Hearing Dogs and Specsavers have enjoyed a 10-year partnership which has helped to transform the lives of thousands of deaf people.

No other form of hearing loss assistance has such a life-transforming effect on a deaf person’s life as a hearing dog. Their unique combination of practical help and invaluable companionship is completely life changing, restoring confidence, independence, self-esteem and most importantly a sense of improved overall well being.
