Ski jumping legend Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards recently popped into Specsavers in Sainsbury’s on the Gallagher Retail Park, Cheltenham to help the team celebrate the store’s first year anniversary.
The Cheltenham-born winter Olympian helped to open the store last year and was invited back for the first birthday party this year.
A word from the store director
‘We were so delighted when Eddie said he was coming back to celebrate our first very successful year,’ said store director, Melanie Brackstone.
‘The new store has welcomed more than 6,000 customers since it opened and we’re hugely grateful for all their support. This event was our way of saying a big thank you to the local community.'
Guest of honour
As the guest of honour, Eddie joined the team for the cutting of a special birthday cake, nibbles, balloons and Prosecco. He said: ‘It was great fun to open the store last year so I was looking forward to coming back again this year.
'Eye health is so important, and has been a big part of my life, so I’d encourage everyone to have their eyes tested every two years.'
The store benefits from two sight testing rooms, a contact lens area, the very latest pre-screening and eye testing equipment and a range of 900 glasses on display.
Digital Precision Eyecare is also available to help customers select their preferred glasses. Imaging software on a tablet is used to take an image of the customer wearing the glasses, which in turn captures a range of essential dispensing measurements.
Hearing test appointments are available six days a week in the bespoke audiology testing room, which includes a sound proof booth.
