Kevin Brennan, Welsh MP for Cardiff West, visited the Queen Street practice in Cardiff to have a sight test and to promote awareness about the importance of looking after your eyes.

Improving eye health in Wales

Mr Brennan said: ‘I was delighted to visit Specsavers during National Eye Health Week to see how important it is to get your eyes regularly tested.

'Our eyes are precious, but we sometimes take them for granted and regular testing can pick up problems before it is too late. It was good to see how Specsavers works with the NHS to improve eye health in Wales.’

During a tour of the practice, Mr Brennan was particularly interested in discussing with the team the enhanced eye care provision provided by the practice.

Prevent and detect sight loss

‘Having visits from a high-profile member of the community is not only testament to the primary provision of care our team provides, but it also helps us to draw attention to the importance of regular eye tests when seeking to prevent and detect sight loss,’ says Frank Moloney, clinical partner at Specsavers Queen Street.

‘The team were thrilled to have Kevin visit us and we thank him for his strong endorsement about the work we do with the Welsh Government, delivering the Wales Eye Care Services programme and Eye Health Examination Wales tests.

'It was a great opportunity to talk to Kevin about the advancements in Wales in the delivery of enhanced eye care services, compared to our neighbours in England.’
