Burton on Trent celebrates long service
Specsavers in Burton on Trent had lots to shout about this week as they celebrated their birthday and rewarded two members of committed staff for reaching long service milestones.
Long service milestones
For the store, celebrations didn’t stop when they marked their 25th birthday with a fundraising day. Optometrist, Esther Keen and dispensing supervisor, Sam Wheeler both reached 20 years of service, coinciding with the store being open for a quarter of a century.
Store directors, Linda Joyce and Catherine Robinson, presented awards to both employees who joined the team when the store was just five years old, while guests enjoyed a glass, or two, of bubbles.
‘It’s great to have such loyal members of the team and I’d like to say a big thank you to both Esther and Sam for their support and commitment,’ said Linda. ‘Both employees have been, and continue to be, an integral part of the team and we’re lucky to have them.'
‘The birthday was a special opportunity to celebrate reaching a milestone with the town who have supported us through our first 25 years,’ Linda added. ‘The store would be nothing without its staff and it’s thanks to the fantastic team here that the business is so successful.’
There was a cake sale in store, a Specsavers birthday cake, a giant specs-wearing cardboard emoji, to promote the launch of the emoji glasses range, and a giant walking ear.
The team were also honoured by a visit from the local MP Andrew Griffiths and an excited black Labrador who is training to become a guide dog.
