Opticians celebrates quarter century
Specsavers in Burton on Trent celebrated the store’s 25th birthday with fundraising activities and a cake sale in store.
Celebrating a quarter of a century
The team raised £305.95 for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and Guide Dogs UK to celebrate being open for a quarter of a century.
Burton's birthday celebrations marked the weekend before National Eye Health Week making it the perfect time to hold a fundraising day.
There was a cake sale in store, a Specsavers birthday cake, a giant cardboard emoji wearing specs (to promote the launch of the emoji glasses range) and a giant walking ear.
The team were also honoured by a visit from the local MP Andrew Griffiths, who later posted his thanks on his Facebook page. Another visitor that attended the birthday celebrations was an excited black Labrador who is training to become a guide dog.
Store director Linda Joyce said: ‘It was a wonderful day and we were delighted to see the local community getting involved. We're proud to share the success we've had so far and fundraising for two wonderful charities was the perfect way to do that.
‘The store’s birthday was a special opportunity to celebrate reaching a milestone with the town who have supported us in our 25 years to date. There was lots going on for everyone to enjoy and it was great to see friends, families and children having lots of fun.’
