If you have a hectic party season planned over Christmas and New Year, you might need to take a little more care of your eyes than usual.

The good news is that there are some simple things that you can do to keep them feeling fresh and healthy, according to the eye health experts at Specsavers Burgess Hill in Church Road.

Keep yourself hydrated

Maggie Johnson, store director in Burgess Hill, said: ‘A lot of us like to enjoy a drink or two over the festive period, but this can dehydrate us and make our eyes feel very uncomfortable. Making sure that you drink plenty of non-alcoholic drinks can really help keep them fresh, and could help stop you getting a hangover too.

‘Another problem after a few drinks can be forgetting to remove your contact lenses before you fall asleep. Remembering to carefully remove them at the end of the night is vital to reduce your risk of infection, so make it a priority this Christmas.’
