Brighton backs Preston Park
Preston Park has been nominated for a national award – and staff at Specsavers in Brighton are keen for customers to show their support online.
The park, one of the largest in Brighton, has been nominated by local residents as the UK’s Best Park for 2017. Voting is open online, but supporters will have to be quick as it closes on Friday 3 November at 5pm.
Winner announced soon
Almost 400 parks across the UK are in the running for the accolade, run by a charity called Fields in Trust who are devoted to protecting parks and other open spaces. The winner will be announced at the end of November.
Park is uplifting
Andrew Wallbank, store director in Brighton, said: ‘The word that comes to mind when I think of Preston Park is uplifting. In a city as busy as Brighton, everyone needs to take time to stop and relax – and it is the perfect place to do that.
'It is full of beautiful things, buildings and wildlife, but also hosts a number of key local events. I would urge our customers to take a minute to back our local park.’
