Shoppers donate thousands of specs to Africa
Specsavers in Brighouse are celebrating donating over 2,500 unwanted glasses to charity Vision Aid Overseas (VAO).
First founded in 1985, the charity recycle the glasses, with the money made going towards helping those living in developing countries to access affordable glasses and eye tests.
A word from the store director
Gareth Hart, store director at Specsavers in Brighouse, said: 'We would like to thank all of our customers that have generously donated their glasses in store. 89% of people who are visually impaired live in developing countries, so we're happy we can make a different to their lives.'
As this year was a hugely successful project, the team at Brighouse are hopeful that they recieve even more donations throughout 2018.
