Optical staff recognised for customer service
Two staff members at Specsavers in Bridgend have received an award in recognition of going the extra mile for customers.
Optometrist, Tracey Seary and optical assistant, Clare Eagle, both scooped a Customer First Award, an accolade given by Specsavers to recognise staff who exceed customer expectations and go above and beyond to assist them.
Store manager, Carly Hickson, nominated Tracey for her duty of care after she helped in the discovery of a customer’s serious health condition.
Following an eye test and the symptoms the customer described, Tracey referred the customer to the Princess of Wales Hospital. She was diagnosed with giant cell arteritis (GCA), a condition in which arteries and veins, usually behind the head and neck, become inflamed.
Carly also nominated Clare for her exceptional customer service skills. When a customer shared concerns about the service he previously received, Clare listened and continued to follow up with him until he was satisfied. He was so pleased with her help, he brought in homemade lemon cake for Clare and the team.
‘Well respected team members’
Ms Hickson said: ‘Tracey and Clare are both well respected team members and their commitment to customer care is second to none. I’m so pleased they have been rewarded for their hard work.
‘Tracey’s expertise helped identify a woman’s concerning health condition, and her general demeanour with the customer went a long way in making her feel as relaxed as she could be at a worrying time.
'Similarly, having someone return to our store with a homemade cake is testament to Clare’s great customer service skills.
‘Tracey and Clare are great examples of how all staff members should behave and I’m thrilled to have such a dedicated team.’
