Specsavers in Bilston has started accepting donations of food and toiletries on behalf of a foodbank for those in need in the local community.
The team on Church Street will be acting as a drop off point for non-perishable food items, including dried pasta, rice, tins and jars of food, biscuits, soups and other long-life items, as well as baby food and toiletries, on behalf of The Well charity.
A word from the store director
‘It’s a tough time for many individuals and families, and so we have decided to do something to help those that are struggling in the local community,’ commented store director, Ajay Patel.
‘We are appealing to residents of Bilston for donations which could make a huge difference to the lives of others. Sadly, more and more people seem to be relying on foodbanks, but many people will have a few spare tins of food in their cupboards and it would mean a lot to someone in need.’
About The Well charity
The Well provides emergency food, toiletries and baby items for people experiencing a temporary financial crisis. This extends to five parcels in a six-month period.
Each parcel contains 3 days of nutritionally balanced tinned and dried food for each person in the household. The aim of The Well is to support those in crisis whilst long term support is put in place, rather than create a cycle of dependency.
