Local store director to tackle charity challenge
A Specsavers store director from Bethnal Green is about to lace up his running shoes for a massive charity challenge.
Amit Kara, store director at the store in Bethnal Green Road, will be swapping the high street for the streets of Addis Ababa to take part in the Great Ethiopian Run at the end of November.
Amit is taking part in the 10k race, set 8,000 feet above sea level, to raise money for Vision Aid Overseas (VAO).
He needs to raise £2,600 in order to take part – and will join 40,000 other runners taking on the challenge.
An amazing opportunity
Amit said: ‘Vision Aid Overseas is a great cause, which is I am sure why my friends and colleagues have already been really generous in their support. Their mission as a charity is to transform access to eye care in developing countries, so that people there can access services that you and I take for granted.’
‘This is an amazing opportunity for me to raise a lot of money for charity while taking part in an event which will really push me outside my comfort zone. I cannot wait to get out there now – but there is still time to give me that last minute boost by sponsoring me today.’
