Eyes on the ball for Barnstaple firefighters
All eyes were firmly fixed on the ball for four Barnstaple fire fighters who joined the team representing Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service in the National Fire Service Football Final.
Specsavers Barnstaple proudly donated funds to sponsor their kit worn at the final against Greater Manchester. Not only was this the first time the team had made it to the finals for 13 years but they also took home the winning trophy.
Emily Waters, Specsavers Barnstaple store director, said: ‘Huge congratulations to the Devon and Somerset team but especially our fire fighters from Barnstaple.
‘Supporting sport in the community is hugely important, which is why we were keen to help out the fire fighters. I’d like to think that the Specsavers sponsored kit helped them see the ball better!’
Barnstaple firefighter, Kevin Waters, says: ‘Our thanks go to Specsavers for helping us look the part on the pitch. We were overwhelmed by the support that came from everyone in Barnstaple and pleased we could bring home the trophy as well.’
