Brightening up dark nights in Barkingside

Specsavers Barkingside has been doing what it can to make those dark nights a bit safer for cyclists and pedestrians by handing out high-visibility jackets outside the store, on the High Street.

The jackets are designed to make local people – both adults and children – stand out on the roads and on pavements, and they have been well-received by customers.

Preventing accidents

Christina Tomlinson, store director in Barkingside, said: These jackets are really popular, and it is pretty obvious why.

‘At this time of year, as the nights draw in, it can be much harder for drivers or pedestrians to see cyclists, or for pedestrians to be seen as they cross the road.

'We hope that that by handing out these jackets outside the store, we are doing our bit to prevent accidents taking place.’
