Davin Quinn is the store director and optometrist at the Antrim Specsavers, located in the Castle Mall, Antrim town centre.
Tell us a bit about yourself:
I'm married and have three children. I enjoy playing a spot of golf from time-to-time. Additionally I like to go swimming and play football. Last year, myself and a few of the staff here at the Antrim store ran a half marathon in aid of charity, so running is another big interest of mine.
How did you come to run a Specsavers store?
I started as optical assistant in 2002 and worked in this role until 2004 at both the Portadown and Craigavon stores. I then studied to become a pre-reg optometrist between 2004 and 2005, and became a fully qualified optometrist in 2005. I continued to work at both the Portadown and Craigavon stores until 2012 as their full time optometrist. It was then, in February 2012, that I opened the Antrim Specsavers store and became the store director as well as one of the full time optometrists.
Do you wear specs, and if so, what is your favourite style?
Yes, I've worn glasses and contact lenses since I was a teenager. My current style is the large frames by Quiksilver which are Black and brown in colour with ultraclear lenses and polarising sun-spectacles for driving, playing golf and enjoying the sun.
What is the best part of your role?
The best part of my role is when you get to meet new people every day and being able to offer them the best value on their glasses, contact lenses and hearing aids. We take immense pride in the fact that we endeavour to provide the best quality of customer service to the local community in the Antrim area.
How many members of staff do you have working at your store?
We have 11 staff members at the Antrim store including two full time optometrists, one store manager, one laboratory technician, two student optical assistants and five full time optical assistants. Additionally, Joanne Torrens is our store audiologist and our hearing centre is open every second Wednesday in the month.
What should people do if they require a sight test?
Customers can phone the store directly on 02894 427 610 or request a free eye test here until the 30 June.
Alternatively, they can simply call in store and one of our team would be more than happy to assist.
