Earlier this month, David Bryant, store director of Margate and Ramsgate, David Cavender, store director of Folkestone, and Matthew Trusty, store director of Dover and Deal, participated in the presentation dinner for the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, together with Specsavers founder Dame Mary Perkins.
Presentation from Dame Mary Perkins
Dame Perkins presented a painting, made by the expert artist David Bryant, on behalf of Specsavers. Bryant specialises in military paintings and has been painting for the Military for nearly fifteen years.
He never charges the British Armed Services for the paintings (which could cost as much as £10,000, if privately commissioned), because he considers it a way to thank them for all their efforts.
Cavender and Trusty helped organize the evening and the transport of the painting. During the night, Cavender and Bryant were awarded the prestigious lifetime membership of the Sergeant’s and Warrant Officers Mess of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
Bryant says: ‘It’s really important to note the great nature of their work, which, whilst really relevant and significant, is largely done without fanfare.’
