Members of the team from Specsavers Abingdon took to the streets of historic Oxford at night to raise money for the Sobell House Hospice (on 19 August).

Staff from the store set their sights on completing the nine-mile Moonlight Stroll, raising more than £650 at the charity’s annual event. The money raised will go towards developing an extension to the hospice facilities at Churchill Hospital. The project will include a new clinic and a dementia-friendly garden annexe.
Specsavers optical assistant Mathias Rouvray, who took part in the event, said: ‘There was a great atmosphere with lots of friendly groups, many of them in fancy dress. We really enjoyed the walk and were delighted to raise a significant sum of money for our store’s annual charity.’
Lab manager Hayden Wheable, director optometrist Atul Vadgama, retail supervisor Kelly Francis, dispensing optician Arron Brown and optical assistants, Donna Nobes, Mat Rouvray and Nicola Welland all took part on behalf of Specsavers.
