Specsavers Tring retail director, Divya Kukadia, spent a day during the Christmas holidays helping the less fortunate by volunteering at charity event - Crisis at Christmas.

The event took place during the winter for nine days over the festive season. The charity welcomes homeless guests in from the cold for warmth, hot meals, comfort and access to vital services.

A Wake Up Call

Speaking about her experience, Divya said, 'I found out about the charity through my sister in law and I attended the last day. This was an eye opener for me as to how many people are homeless and are vulnerable.

'The stories I was told, about how some of them became homeless were so sad. They are normal people wanting to live normal lives but have a very slim chance of getting back on their own feet without support and help.'

An Inspiring Influence

Divya’s experience has influenced colleagues at Specsavers Tring to continue to volunteer in local charity initiatives and also bring their expertise along. They also plan to attend the next Crisis at Christmas event and spend a couple days volunteering at the eye clinic.
