Opticians help driver compete safely in the Circuit of Ireland Rally
The Specsavers opticians team in Newtownards have thrown support behind local driver, Stanley Orr who is competing in the Circuit of Ireland Rally for the second time since his comeback in 2014. As well as sponsorship support, the staff at the store have ensured a safe road to victory with regular tests and prescribed glasses.
Stanley knows all too well the importance of taking care of his sight, not only for safety on the roads, but because he has lived with diabetes for almost 40 years. As part of the partnership, Specsavers Newtownards has given Stanley regular eye tests and specially tinted glasses for rally car driving.
Leigh Nelson, store director, says; ‘Stanley is not just a regular customer to our store, but a friend and is married to our store manager, Carol Orr, so he is like part of the family! His sight is important not just in terms of road safety when he is racing, but for us to keep checking regularly because of his diabetes. We’re delighted to support him financially and have a great local representing our town at this world class event.’
Customers from the store and locals from the town can cheer on Stanley when the Circuit of Ireland Newtownards TT stage speeds into town on Friday 3rd April at 6pm.
