300 extra staff become professionally qualified
More than 300 dispensing assistants at Specsavers have become professionally qualified through the group’s externally-accredited Level 4 Certificate in Optical Dispensing.
Specsavers launched the scheme in 2012 to provide a professional development scheme for optical assistants.
The course provides an introduction to optical theory and equips students with the skills to provide a wide range of dispensing tasks and the ability to help with a range non-routine customer queries. Some 301 Specsavers store staff completed the course in the 2013 and 2014 cohorts and were presented with their qualifications by Specsavers founder Dame Mary Perkins at a recent graduation ceremony.
Dame Mary said: ‘I congratulate and thank our graduates for seizing this opportunity to expand their skills and knowledge that will ensure our customers get the best care and advice.
‘They are the trailblazers, taking Specsavers – and our respective industries – to new levels of professionalism.’
