Sheffield Steeler’s star, Stefan Meyer, helps Specsavers in Worksop raise more than £350 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

The Specsavers team in Worksop has raised £350 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, by holding a fundraising day in store.

The hospice offers care to children with a shortened life expectancy, both in their own homes and at the hospice in North Anston.

Staff at the store raised the money by holding an in-store bake sale and a raffle. Store director, Richard Bevan said: ‘The fundraising day was a great success and customers that came along were really supportive of our efforts in raising vital funds for Bluebell Wood Hospice.

‘The Sheffield Steelers ice hockey team came down too – and were a big hit with our customers and were more than willing to pose for pictures and sign autographs.

The steelers stars Gord Baldwin, Stefan Meyer and Geoff Woolhouse came along to meet and greet customers, as well as having their eyes tested at the store.

‘As a longstanding business serving the local community for a number of years, we feel it is important to make a commitment to raise money for a charity that is so close to all our hearts.

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice is a great cause, which benefits so many residents from the town and we hope to raise even more for the charity over the coming months.’
