Specsavers in Leven celebrates bumper year of charity and community support
A Leven opticians has lent its support to several charities throughout 2014, donating almost £1,330 in the past year.
As well as raising funds for the British Heart Foundation through a raffle and bake sale, the store also sponsored a local under 19s football team, East Fife FC, for the second year running, investing in strips for the squad.
A kind-hearted team
On top of its fundraising efforts, staff from the store visited Methilhill Primary School, handing out reflective vests to increase the children’s visibility on the walk to and from school.
The kind-hearted team also collected more than 1,500 pairs of unwanted or used of specs to help people in developing countries through Vision Aid Overseas and donated much-needed supplies to Levenmouth Foodbank.
Specsavers Leven was also happy to welcome a group of youngsters affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, offering free eye tests and prescription specs where required when the children visited the store last summer.
A pleasure to give back
Adrian McCann, director of Specsavers in Leven said: ‘It’s been a pleasure to be able to give back – both within the local community and further afield.
‘Staff and customers alike have really enjoyed our charitable events and initiatives, and it’s very rewarding being able to support such great causes.
‘I would like to thank the staff for their help in organising the activities and also all of our customers for supporting our fundraising efforts over the past twelve months.’
