Christmas is a time of giving, but Specsavers in Hereford is going one step further to raise funds for a local primary school this festive period.

The store is dedicating the month of December to raise money for Blackmarston Primary School, which caters exclusively for children who have special educational needs. A group of children will be supporting the store’s fundraising drive by hosting a carol service on Wednesday 17 December, from 10am.

In addition to the magical, musical morning, the team will be offering luxurious homemade treats to indulgent customers in return for donations on Monday 22 December. The store will be fully decorated in its best festive attire along with the staff up until Christmas Eve.

‘We’ve been supporting Blackmarston School for some time now, but as a state-funded school, there is always more that can be done to help,’ says Nialle Smith, store director at Hereford.

‘In addition to the carol service and cake sale, we will be offering specs MOTs (cleaning and repairs) in return for donations throughout December to help raise as much as we can. We’re looking forward to welcoming the children into the store to spread a little Christmas cheer and hope customers and passersby will stop in for a mince pie.’

Specsavers in Hereford has recently been recognised for its outstanding contribution to the local community at an annual excellence in eyecare award ceremony.
