Specsavers have stepped in to help a 68-year-old man who was left without his glasses after an optician chain suddenly shut down.

Paul Boyce went to collect his prescription glasses from Store Optical in Kirkby but he arrived to find the shutters down and the shop was shut.

Paul said he received a text from the company last week telling him his glasses were ready to collect.

But after finding the store shut on Thursday, Paul went into the shop next door where he was told that the opticians had been shut since just after Christmas.

Specsavers to the Rescue

Lyndsey McLoughlin, the Director of Specsavers in Sainsbury’s Rice Lane, reached out to Paul to offer him an eye test and a pair of good quality replacement glasses, free of charge.

Lyndsey said she would like to do this to show Paul that 'there are some Opticians out there who do genuinely care!'

Paul said: 'It's an extremely nice gesture, I think it's incredible. It just shows that they do care, I wasn't expecting that. I'm extremely grateful.'
