Specsavers Farnham supports local church
Specsavers Farnham was delighted to help a local cause recently.
St Mark's Church in need of help
‘Emily’, the pipe organ at St Mark’s Church, Upper Hale is 103 years old and in need of a complete overhaul. The Parish of Badshot Lea and Hale have been fundraising and so far have raised £2500 towards the target of £23,000.
Making a donation
Specsavers Farnham has pledged a donation of £100 by sponsoring one of the eight stops in the organ. A ‘stop’, when it is pulled out, allows pressurized air to a set of organ pipes. This changes the sound of the organ, perhaps making it sound like a group flutes or oboes.
St Mark’s Church is now appealing to the rest of the community to help save this local piece of history by sponsoring an organ stop, like Specsavers Farnham. Once the funding has all been received, there will be a celebratory concert and the team cannot wait to go along and hear 'Emily' in her full glory!
Delighted to be involved
Lateef Iqbal, Specsavers store director at Farnham said: 'Our business is all about our vision and also, our hearing. 'Emily' is a sight to behold and plays beautiful music so we felt it was a spot-on local cause for us to support. We hope other businesses can help the church hit its target.'
