87 Specsavers stores in the UK are reaching out to customers and local communities in aid of the Guide Dogs Week 2015 theme ‘Let’s Glow’, by donning neon to show their support for people who live with sight loss.
Throughout Guide Dogs Week, the charity’s annual awareness and fundraising week which runs from 3 to 11 October, store staff will be dressing up in bright clothes, decorating stores and taking part in an array of charity challenges.
Dame Mary Perkins said: ‘Specsavers has been a proud supporter of Guide Dogs for more than 10 years. Thanks to the support of our customers we have raised a nationwide total of £270,000 in the past four years, which has funded 25 guide dog puppies.’
Lisa Bell, Guide Dogs’ corporate partnerships officer added: ‘Every hour another person in the UK loses their sight, and the impact is life changing. The Guide Dogs charity is here to make sure that when someone loses their vision they don’t have to lose their freedom as well.
‘This Guide Dogs Week we want to reach even more people to raise awareness and reach our biggest-ever Guide Dogs Week fundraising target of £1million.’’
