Specsavers opticians in Crossgates have celebrated 22 years of serving the community by holding a Disney-themed fun week to raise vital funds for Cash for Kids.

The Specsavers store, which has been located in the Crossgates Shopping Centre for 22 years, held a number of events over the past week raising a total of £478.

Special cause

The funds were specifically in aid of 13 year old Leeds teenager, Nathan who has cerebral palsy. His condition means he is refined to a wheelchair, and as he is getting older and becoming a teenager – he has had a growth spurt.

As a result of growing, Nathan’s internal organs and joints are bearing more strain and his parents are finding it increasingly difficult to maintain his daily exercise routine; which involves lifting him into a standing position to give his body a break from sitting down. Nathan will benefit immensely from a specialist sit-to-stand wheelchair, which isn’t available through the national health. The Specsavers’ team’s fundraising will specifically go towards funding this wheelchair.
