At the first ever Camberley Town Centre Business Awards held on Thursday 15 October, the Specsavers team of opticians based in Camberley won the Business of the Year Award.
Winner from 70 nominated businesses
The awards are are organised by Collectively Camberley, who aim to celebrate 'the best of the best' locally. Specsavers received an overwhelming number of entries and nominations with over 600 votes from the general public an accolade from over 70 different businesses from the Camberley Business Improvement District nominated for the awards.
From a pool of 300 businesses in Surrey Heath, it was Specsavers in Camberley that emerged with the top prize of The Guide2 Camberley Business of the Year.
Specsavers store director Lateef Iqbal said 'It's a fantastic achievement to be awarded Business of the Year in Camberley and we are very proud of the dedication and commitment of our whole team, and would also like to thank everyone who voted for us.'
A panel of esteemed local judges including Zoe Griffiths (Collectively Camberley), Jeff Caplan (Storecheckers), Louise Punter (Surrey Chambers) and Fiona Knowlton (TG Media) selected a shortlist of entries who had demonstrated how they:
- create an outstanding working environment for employees
- demonstrate a passion for hiring local employees
- received positive feedback from mystery shopping visits
- run corporate social responsibility strategies that make a real difference
- show passion and involvement with the town centre and local community
- create effective and innovative marketing
