Specsavers buys home visiting opticians: Healthcall
Specsavers has bought Healthcall Optical Services, one of the UK's largest providers of eyecare for the housebound.
Specsavers director of professional services Paul Carroll says: 'As with all aspects of our eyecare and hearing services, we are constantly looking at ways to offer complementary services to customers. At Specsavers we believe in great value and professional eyecare for all, which includes those people who cannot access one of our 700 UK stores, whether they are housebound or a care home resident.'
'Healthcall shares our values and offers a vital lifeline to these people. Specsavers is delighted to be supporting its ongoing provision of this domiciliary service.'
Healthcall director Jayne Rawlinson says: 'We are delighted to announce that Healthcall, which has been providing a highly professional eyecare service to housebound customers in their own homes for more than 20 years, is now under the ownership of Specsavers.'
'With the UK's most trusted optician* now backing Healthcall, we are well placed to continue developing our tried and tested service to existing and new customers. This is great news for the future of Healthcall.'
Healthcall provides a comprehensive eyecare service to housebound residents, whether living in their own homes or in care homes, including NHS funded eye examinations, dispensing of glasses and aftercare.
