The teams at Specsavers Beckenham and Penge have donated a temporary dugout for a local under-12’s football team to shelter them from the sun this summer season.
Support in the sun
Wickham Wanderers are currently fourth in their division at Tandridge League South, having won 12 and drawn 2 of their 20 games this year. The dugout, worth £100, will mean the players will have some where to cheer on their team mates to further wins while they’re on the substitute’s bench.
Premal Patel, co-owner of Specsavers Beckenham and Penge, says he is delighted that their donation will be put towards good use. ‘At Specsavers, we’re always stressing the importance of keeping your eyes safe from the sun and this shelter does just that – as well as keeping the players cool during what we hope will be a sunny summer!’
