Havant hosts Paws for Coffee Day
Specsavers opticians in Havant has an audiologist service right next door, and this May, the opticians' neighbouring team were 'lapping up' some party fun with a tea party to fundraise for a great cause.
Fundraising for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People
The audiologists invited locals to pause for thought and come in store to enjoy a cup of coffee in the name of charity. Cakes were laid on in an event called PAWS for a coffee where customers and shoppers treated themselves to a cup of the hot stuff in exchange for donations.
Running during National Deaf Awareness Week
The coffee morning took place on Tuesday 16 May to coincide with National Deaf Awareness Week that runs from 15 May to 21 May.
The aim is to raise £100 to sponsor a hearing dog puppy and this funding goes towards the training of a hearing dog puppy – with the puppy then being paired with a deaf person to support them in their everyday life.
Says hearcare director, Clive Harrod
'The number of people with hearing loss in the UK set to rise significantly in the future, so it is crucial that we can meet the ever-increasing demands. This includes our services of fantastic hearing aids and also, helping charities like Hearing Dogs for Deaf People who can provide life-changing benefits with their hearing dogs.'
He continues: 'This year is extra special for us because Specsavers Audiologists celebrates its 10 year partnership with the charity. Playing our small part in fundraising is an honour.'
