Specsavers Antrim has achieved a prestigious business accreditation for its dedication to personnel development. Committed to looking after its customers with clinical expertise and deals on glasses and hearing aids, Specsavers in Antrim has now also proved how well it looks after its staff as a great place to work with strong career opportunities.
The store in Castle Mall has been awarded the group’s externally-ratified Platinum Employer status. Devised and assessed by employee engagement specialist the Hay Group, Platinum Employer is tailor-made for optical and audiology retail and sets high standards to be met across all aspects of staff wellbeing and career development.
The rigorous assessment process required evidence that a number of policies and procedures were in place and also included interviews with staff at all levels. The store was found to excel in all the scheme’s five standards, which include performance management and reward, learning and development and employee communications and engagement.
Specsavers Antrim store director Davin Quinn said, ‘For a store that has only been open for 4 years I am absolutely delighted that we have achieved this prestigious accreditation, only the second store out of the 18 in Northern Ireland to do so. We are only as good as the team around us and in Antrim we have a very enthusiastic and committed group who have worked hard to reach this standard of professionalism and customer service. They are a credit to work with and I have every confidence that the Platinum Award will act as a catalyst to maintain their dedication.’
Nikki Gardiner, Regional Relationship Manager for Northern Ireland said, ‘I was delighted when Davin and the team expressed an interest in the accreditation. From day one, the entire team have been really engaged with learning and development and being the very best that they can be. During the assessment, Ita, the manager, showed us the vision wall that the team all create together and work hard to deliver every day. The quote of the day is just another small thing that the team get involved in and makes them laugh and enjoy their work even more. I am so proud of Antrim for getting the recognition that they deserve.’
