Ely eyecare experts are renewing their appeal in aid of an international sight charity.

The team from Specsavers in Ely collect and donate around 300 pairs of specs each month for charity, Vision Aid Overseas.

They are again calling for residents to drop off their old and unwanted glasses in store as they set a goal of collecting 3000 pairs before the end of the year.

More about the charity

Vision Aid Overseas - which operates in six African nations – collects, refurbishes and recycles specs and helps fund improvements to eyecare services for those less fortunate overseas.

A word from the store director

Minal Patel, store director at Specsavers in Ely, said: ‘Residents have always given generously to our Vision Aid Overseas specs collection box. We hope that by renewing our call for donations, it will remind people that they can put their specs to good use when they’re finished with them.

‘It’s such a simple initiative but it can really make a positive change in people’s lives. Pop by the store and drop off your old and unwanted specs today.’
